25 Pujas in the TriState, Durga Puja 2022 saw some unique initiatives after the two years of restricted public celebrations....
1. GSCA, Number One in TriState Durga Puja, with top line Cultural programs and overall celebrations on October 8th and 9th.
Public reports include top rates for excellent food and GSCA hospitality.
Puja celebrations included first time Kumari Puja, Arts and Crafts Competition and "Sharod Mela" - Seasonal Festivity.

2. AGRANI, Number Two in TriState Durga Puja, with hot Global News and Media Coverage for having a female priest for Agrani's first Durga Puja this year celebrated on October 15th and 16th with huge success both in puja and entertainment.
Agrani, is fairly a new organization, barely a year old, that dared to go with their innovative plan to have Dr. Jaya Chatterjee, a pharmacist by profession, perform the ritualistic Durga Puja which is by Hindu tradition a man's job.
Agrani is for Empowering Women and now has 501(C) certification. The team includes: Debarati Haldar, president; Jayasree Sen Majumdar ( VP); Priti Saha ( GS); Tanusree Saha ( Treasurer); Moumon Mitra ( CS); Priya Bose ( Food Secretary); Bidisha Mukherji ( Media); Joyee Chatterji
( Logistic); Pritha Ghosh ( Event Manager ); Arpita Gupta (Advisor).

Usually Bengalis use “Shree” for Kojagori Lakshmi Puja, Wedding, and some other pujas as well!! It’s a very old ritual for Bengalis, which they’re still trying to continue no matter where they are.
Usually it’s made out of rice flour, mixed with banana and colors!! It has some typical patterns that needs to be added every time we make a Shree! There are some specific meaning of those patterns as well. This time I had the opportunity to make a “ Shree” for our club “ Agrani" New Jersey

মাত্র কুড়িটি পরিবার নিয়ে শুরু হয়েছিল এই পুজোর ভাবনা। ঠিক করলেন নিজেরাই হাতেকলমে বানিয়ে নেবেন মায়ের প্রতিমা। যামিনী রায়ের আদলে শোলার দিয়ে তৈরী হল ঠাকুর। প্রায় দেড়শ জন লোকের উপস্থিতিতে নিউ জার্সির এই প্রচেষ্টা যে আগমনেই সকলকেই তাঁক লাগিয়ে দিয়েছিল সে বিষয়ে সন্দেহ নেই। পুজোর পাশাপাশি পেটপুজোরও রয়েছে এলাহী আয়োজন। বাসন্তী পোলাও, মোচার চপ, পাঁঠার মাংস, ধোকার ডালনাসহ আরও কত কি! আসর জমাতে থাকছে ফকির ব্যান্ড।
আমেরিকার মাটিতে পুজো পরিক্রমার মানেই নিউ জার্সি। এখানে দুর্গাপুজো ঠিক কলকাতারই মত। বাড়ির কাছাকাছি বিভিন্ন জায়গায় একেবারে প্যান্ডেল বেঁধে ধুমধাম করে পালিত হয় দুর্গাপুজো। এই কটা দিন রীতিমত দল বেঁধে ঠাকুরও দেখতে বেড়িয়ে পড়েন প্রবাসীরা। গত দু’বছর অতিমারির কারনে পুজোর চমকে খানিক ভাঁটা পড়েছিল। তবে এবছর পুরো উদ্যমে নতুন করে শুরু হচ্ছে বহু পুজো। নতুন শুরু হওয়া পুজোগুলির মধ্যে ‘ত্রিনয়নী’-র এই বছরের উদ্যোগ বেশ অভিনব।

চপ, পাঁঠার মাংস, ধোকার ডালনাসহ আরও কত কি! আসর জমাতে থাকছে ফকির ব্যান্ড। কচিকাঁচাদের মাতৃবন্দনাসহ থাকবে নানান সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠানের, বৈঠকি আড্ডার আয়োজন।
এছাড়াও ‘উৎসব’, ‘আইসিসি’, ‘আলোর বেনু’, ‘আগমনী’, ‘বঙ্গবাসী’, ইত্যাদি নানান পুজোয় মেতে ওঠে গার্ডেন স্টেট। যদি একটু পুরনো পুজোর কথায় আসি। যেমন, এবছর গার্ডেন স্টেট কালচারাল এসোসিয়েশন (GSCA)-এর পুজোতে থাকছে ইমন এবং পিউর গান। কত্থকের ডালি নিয়ে হাজির অর্চনা যোগলেকর। থাকছেন বেনি দয়ালও। সঙ্গে শপিং স্টল, কুমারী পুজো, ভোগ এগুলোতো থাকছেই। গার্ডেন স্টেট পুজো কমিটি (GSPC)-এর পুজোয় নতুন চমক জিৎ গাঙ্গুলি আর অন্বেষার জন্য অধীর আগ্রহে সবাই। ‘হোক পেটপুজো’ এই শ্লোগানে দারুন মেনু আয়োজন থাকছে পুজোর দিনগুলোতে। পুজোর দিনগুলোতে হরেক রকম স্টল, ভোগ, সমাজসেবা সবেতেই নিজের জায়গা করে নিয়েছে এই পুজো। সবশেষে যে পুজোর কথা না বললে নিউ জার্সির পুজো সম্পূর্ণই হতে চায় না তা হল, কল্লোলের পুজো। আনারসের চাটনি এবং ডিম কষা এই পুজোর সিগনেচার ডিশ। এছাড়াও ইয়ং অ্যডাল্ট কালচারাল ভারত সেবাশ্রম, আদ্যাপীঠ, আনন্দ মন্দির এদের সাবেকি পুজোও এই কটাদিন একেবারে জমিয়ে রাখে সকলকে।

Gharoaa of Pennsylvania had more than expected registrants
(almost double) to attend Star singer Anwesha's program.
People flew-in from other states and Gharoaa had to arrange
for additional parking lots.

It takes a community to nurture and grow an organization. In short seven years Gharoaa, a grassroots Bengali community organization in Greater Philadelphia and Delaware Valley, has come a long way from Durga Puja with fifty people at a Firehouse to hosting more than seven hundred people this year to celebrate puja. Along with pujo, top class artists and food to rave about are the hallmarks of Gharoaa culture. All our generous donors and sponsors along with our countless volunteers has made Gharoaa successful as a premier Durga Puja in the Tristate area.
