Woman with a mission to make her daughter a Star

Roshni Das with daughter Ishanaa

Fulfilling her duty as a mother and nurturing her daughter’s unique talent, what Roshni Das feels her biggest success story in life is. She worked in a reasonably good position in India but she had to sacrifice her career after migrating to the US with her husband because her daughter, a very gifted child, never felt comfortable staying with a babysitter.

She wrote to us, “I am not sure if your thematic caption- “আমি জয়ী” ( I am a Winner) fits me, but believe if I have done anything which can make me feel a winner, is my daughter’s success and the love she receives from the community.
Roshni says, “My child was lost in a new place, a new environment, away from the world in India she knew and loved. In the beginning, she was totally new in school and did not have any friends. It upset my child, so, I thought it would be good for her if she had the one ‘person’ she was familiar with around her all the time – me! And then we were faced with COVID 19 restrictions and it was me and my daughter 24/7 at home. Ishanaa is a very bright and intelligent girl. Her inquisitive mind requires constant stimulation. I am on my toes all the time to keep her engaged. So, I started teaching her all that I knew best – drawing, painting, dancing, and most of all my favorite recitation. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that Ishanaa had a natural gift for recitation. She picked up the expressions and voice modulation almost instantaneously. I started promoting her and opportunities came from virtual programs held at The Indian Consulate in New York and almost every Bengali organization in the Tri-State. Today I feel extremely proud when I am recognized as Ishanaa’s mom! My husband’s passion is music so my daughter is also getting trained in music. Life is hard here, but my daughter brings me immense joy and winning moments. So, I can proudly say –
“আমি জয়ী” – I am a Winner.”
